BRODEUR WORLDWIDE AND GEN3 PARTNERS CO-HOST OFFSHORING SEMINAR

Author Michael Treacy Dispels Myths, Discusses Role of Profits and Innovation

Boston - May 27, 2004 - Brodeur Worldwide, a unit of Omnicom Group (NYSE: OMC), and GEN3 Partners teamed up to host a two-hour breakfast seminar today at The Harvard Club in Boston entitled, “Offshoring: Which Shore is the Right Shore?” Attendees included clients of both firms, as well as local business, marketing and communications leaders, industry analysts, and media interested in the topic.

Featured speaker and business expert Michael Treacy keynoted on the same subject earlier in the month at Gartner Group’s Outsourcing Summit 2004 Conference in Las Vegas.

Of late, Offshoring and Outsourcing practices have raised highly-charged public concerns. Common indictments include: Is Offshoring killing huge numbers of U.S. jobs? Is Offshoring a choice of greedy companies to fatten profits? Can the U.S. keep its edge on innovation? Is this a short- or long-term crisis? Is Offshoring weakening our national competitiveness?

“Misconceptions surrounding Offshoring and Outsourcing abound, heightened by political agendas, a weakened economy, job losses, and close corporate scrutiny,” said John Brodeur, chairman, Brodeur Worldwide. “We wanted to bring interested parties together to get ahead of the issues.”

“Outsourcing is a long-term trend – bet on it. And Offshoring is a pendulum that will swing back and forth,” said Michael Treacy, chief strategist, GEN3 Partners, during the May 27 event. “The right mix of onshore and offshore, in-house and outsourced growth strategies are vital to U.S. employment levels, consumer demand and company performance. However, a critical touchstone that many have not yet grasped is innovation. Innovation cannot be offshored and must remain within U.S. borders. It holds a key to our country’s long-term success in global markets.”
